Our Mission & Vision
St Bernadette’s, The Basin is nestled at the base of the Dandenong Ranges in a beautiful rural setting unmatched by any other school in the suburbs of Melbourne. The Dandenong ranges tower over the school and provide a stunning backdrop to the natural environment and expansive grounds upon which the school is built.
St Bernadette’s is a Catholic school where the student is at the centre of everything that the school strives for. St Bernadette’s provides Catholic school values and education for all school members, but also celebrates and serves the diverse wider community that we are part of by welcoming those from other traditions and faith backgrounds as well as families from a non faith background.
Within a school of approximately 200 students, learning and wellbeing is strongest when learners are engaged within St Bernadette’s community and it is this community that sets us apart from others. At the heart of our school is the desire for the full flourishing of each of our students – their religious, physical, cognitive, emotional and social learning. St Bernadette’s provides Catholic school values and education for all school members, but also celebrates and serves the diverse wider community that we are part of by welcoming those from other traditions and faith backgrounds. As a school community, we are committed to our vision of ‘Striving for Excellence’ as we educate and prepare our students for their future.

What Parents are Saying
“Surrounded by nature St Bernadette’s is a community minded school buzzing with activity and learning. We have been at St Bernadette’s for 12 years now, with dedicated and enthusiastic staff our children have flourished in their learning and experiences. Being in a smaller school you are known and can feel that real sense of belonging. There are many activities which stand out such as Cafe kids, stage productions, Art exhibitions, sporting events, music lessons, bike Ed, camps, vegetable gardens, leadership opportunities, community events and not forgetting our delightful library. During the covid pandemic the staff have been outstanding with embracing technology to deliver the home school learning program and communication with families. If you are looking for a school with great community, Christian values and caring staff in a beautiful setting then come and take a tour!”
Wizard of Oz Production Feedback
“The children were delightful and it was obvious how much they enjoyed performing which was wonderful and the audience loved it. It was very clear by the standard of the entire production how much time and effort had been put in to planning and rehearsing to make the show “come together on the night”. Huge shout out to all the staff who must have put in enormous hours to make it so successful. What you achieve everyday with and for our children could never have a value placed on it. You
really do set them up for success in the future so we all owe you a great debt. I am the proud grandmother of a Dorothy and a tree, both of whom performed well above my expectation so I am looking forward to watching a repeat sitting when the dvd come out. Again my thanks and hearty congratulations to all the staff and students.”
“I think the way that you and your team have adapted to this new phase of remote learning is commendable. The content is great, the delivery is excellent and my boys are both engaged and happy with each day’s
lessons. From our end the transition seems almost seamless, although I know this is only due to the hard work, adaptability, professionalism and caring of the wonderful teacher group we have. Please pass on our
gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to all your team. Once again St. B’s is a shining example to the larger community.”
